Yabuli International Ski Resort, located in the Heilongjiang province in the northeastern part of China, is China's largest ski resort. The resort has 9 lifts covering the whole ski area. The longest lift exceeds 1600 meters. There are 10 hotels and hostels at the resort. Getting to Yabuli International Ski Resort involves a 90 minute internal flight from Beijing, a two and a half hour train ride and a bus transfer.
The Changbaishan Ski Resort is located in the primitive forests of Changbaishan Nature Reserve in Jilin province. It is the basic training base for athletes in China. Many professional skiers and experts from all over the world have skied here. The resort has two trails with a total length of 3,000 meters for mountain skiing, and a trail of around 5,000 meters for off piste skiing. Also in the Jilin province is the Beidahu Lake Ski Resort. It has alpine ski trails, cross-country skiing and ski jumping platforms as well as free style skiing area. Beidahu Ski Resort is one of the two professional ski slopes in China with international standard for skiing competition.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Ski Resort is the highest ski resort in China with an elevation of around 4,500 - 4,700 meters above sea level. It is known for its pure, unspoiled, natural snow resulting from its high altitude. Arxan Ski Resort is the other Chinese ski resort built according to international standard for skiing competition. It is favored for professional training and competitions and has several ski runs almost at all levels from beginners to experienced skiers.
There are six ski areas within range of Beijing. One of the newest, the Nanshan ski resort, is 90 minutes northeast of Beijing. Located in a mountainous area, it boasts a double chair lift, 10 slopes and Swiss-style chalets. The conditions are often less than ideal. Were it not for the snow-making equipment there usually wouldn’t be much snow. The area is cold enough it just that it is usually dry in the winter.
