Many whose travel originates in the west will find it easier to route their travel to Macau via Hong Kong.
Macau International Airport opened in late 1995. The airport is linked by scheduled air services to Brussels, Lisbon, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, Pyongyang, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing and other cities in mainland China. In addition there are charter flights to Macau.
Many whose travel originates in the west will find it easier to route their travel to Macau via Hong Kong. Their is a helicopter service from Hong Kong to Macau that makes some 22 round trips a day between Hong Kong and Macau Ferry terminals. The trip takes about 20 minutes and costs around 55 to 70 US dollars.
Another, and a cheaper option is to travel by sea from Hong Kong to Macau. There are several fleets of jetfoils, turbo-cats, jumbo-cats and hover ferries that serve the 65 kilometers (40 miles) route between Hong Kong and Macau. There are more than 100 sailings throughout the day and evening, with all-night service by jetfoils.
