Adventure Holidays in China
China is home to the world's most challenging mountain peaks, miles of uncharted whitewater, isolated steppes and picturesque valleys.

Traveling to China is in itself an adventure, the sheer size of the country is overwhelming and the diversity of peoples, cultures and landscapes is vast. Explore the villages of Yunnan; meet the Terracotta Warriors at Xian; travel overland to the Potala Palace in Tibet and cruise the mighty Yangtze River. From Beijing to Hong Kong, Shanghai to Guilin, the Silk Road to Mongolia, discover amazing cuisine, friendly welcomes and a land full of bicycles.

More than 2,000 years ago, Chinese and foreign merchants shipped silk and other goods from the ancient Chinese capital of Chang'an (present Xi'an) to Central Asia and the coasts of the Mediterranean, paving a channel for exchanges of oriental and western goods and cultures. The Silk Road in China is 4,000 kilometers long. Along this golden route live people from more than 40 ethnic groups. Travelers visiting the Silk Road will gain insight into the colorful local customs and natural scenery of northwest China.

China has developed a program sponsoring ecological tour routes. The purpose of this program is to enhance people's understanding and knowledge of environmental protection through ecological tours. The routes contain scenic spots, historical sites on the Inner Mongolia Prairie in north China, strange peaks, grotesque rocks, elegant waters and rural scenery in south China, famous mountains and large rivers inland, Beihai beach in Guangxi and areas bordering on Vietnam in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, providing tourists with opportunities to experience the time-honored civilization and spectacular landscapes of China.
